DescriptionWhen your hardware project scales up from blinking LEDs to spinning industrial fans, powering water pumps, or turning on household lighting, you need physical electrical isolation. The 9V DC SPDT Power Relay provides a physical air gap between your low-voltage control electronics and the dangerous high-voltage lines powering your load.Understanding the SPDT ConfigurationThis is an SPDT (Single Pole Double Throw) relay, which means it features three primary load-switching pins on the bottom, giving you two different ways to route power:Common (COM): The main power feed from your high-voltage source connects here.Normally Open (NO): Connect your load here if you want it to remain OFF until the relay is triggered.Normally Closed (NC): Connect your load here if you want it to remain ON until the relay is triggered (useful for fail-safe power cutoffs).Driving the 9V Coil (Crucial Circuit Design Note)While this relay is triggered by a 9V DC signal, you cannot power the coil directly from a microcontroller GPIO pin. The internal electromagnet draws roughly 70mA to snap the physical switch closed, and it requires a 9V power source, which will quickly destroy the 3.3V/5V logic pins on an Arduino or ESP32. To use this safely:Use a switching transistor (like a BC547 or 2N2222) connected to your logic pin to switch the 9V power going to the relay coil. You must place a flyback diode (like a 1N4007) in reverse parallel across the two coil pins. When the electromagnet turns off, the collapsing magnetic field generates a massive high-voltage spike that will destroy your transistor if the diode is not there to absorb it.Robust PCB MountingHoused in the classic blue “sugar cube” form factor, this component is designed for secure through-hole mounting on custom printed circuit boards. The heavy copper pins are specifically sized to carry the maximum rated 10 Amps without overheating, provided your PCB traces are thick enough to handle the current.Key Features:True Galvanic Isolation: Keeps high-voltage AC mains completely separated from your delicate logic boards.High Current Capacity: Rated for a massive 10 Amps, allowing it to easily control heaters, large motors, and multiple light fixtures.Satisfying Tactile Feedback: Emits a distinct mechanical “click” when activated, making troubleshooting and hardware debugging much easier.Technical Specifications:Model: SRD-09VDC-SL-CCoil Nominal Voltage: 9V DCContact Arrangement: SPDT (1 Form C)Maximum Switching Voltage: 250V AC / 30V DCMaximum Switching Current: 10ADielectric Strength: 1,500V AC (Between coil and contacts)Mounting Type: 5-Pin PCB Through-HoleIdeal Applications:DIY smart home automation and custom Wi-Fi power stripsSwitching 12V/24V high-torque DC motors in roboticsAutomated greenhouse climate control (fans, heaters, water pumps)Fail-safe cutoff switches for battery-powered smart boxes
