This shim has vertical slats that match up under each frame in the hive. It is installed between the bottom board and the brood box. When used in the summer to create space below the frames for bees to cluster, reducing bearding. Winter use allows a buffer between the bottom board and brood frames, allowing the bees and the brood to remain warmer. 10 frame size.
